The research part was established by the order of the Rector of Vinnytsia Polytechnic Institute № 144 of June 12, 1987 and is subordinated to the Vice-Rector for Research.
Since February 1, 2010, Volodymyr V. Bohachuk has been the Head of the Research Center.
The NMS is based on the Research Sector (R&D), which was established in 1973.
Today NDC is one of the main structural units of the university.
The most important tasks of the research part are: organization, coordination and implementation of basic and applied research in priority areas of development in the field of technical, natural and human sciences, organization, coordination and implementation of scientific and technical developments and scientific and technical services quality of training due to the use of research results in the educational process, deepening cooperation with institutions of the NAS of Ukraine and industry academies, development of material and technical base for research, protection of intellectual property rights, organization and coordination of research work of students.
One of the main divisions of the research part is the scientific and organizational department. Since February 1984, the head of this department is Maya Ivanovna Pashenko. The main tasks of the department are organization and coordination of all research and development works financed from the state budget, grants and economic contracts, economic substantiation, planning and organization of financial support of scientific activity, provision of advisory services to university staff. work, support of proposals for participation of scientists of VNTU in competitions for budget funding, ensuring state registration of scientific topics, analysis and generalization of materials on scientific and scientific-technical activities, organization of scientific-technical council of the university, organizational support of candidates’ nominations scholarships.

An important unit is the Intellectual Property Department. Since January 2002 this department is headed by Lyudmila Nikolaevna Kondratieva. The main tasks of the department are coordination and organization of all works in the field of protection of intellectual property of the university, providing advice on applications for all types of intellectual property to the Ukrainian Institute of Industrial Property, coordination and organization of student research, organization and preparation of scientific conferences conducted by VNTU.
